Supported image formats, export options, and how Tone Caliper keeps your originals unchanged.
Supported image files
Tone Caliper opens JPEG, PNG, TIFF, HEIF, and supported camera RAW files.
Add a folder to browse its photos in the Library. Tone Caliper reads files where they are stored without copying or moving them.
Camera RAW
Use the RAW tab to adjust the profile, white balance, exposure, sharpening, and color noise reduction. See Developing RAW files.

Samsung (.srw), Sigma (.x3f), and Nikon Coolpix (.nrw) RAW files are not supported.
Video clips
Tone Caliper opens H.264 and HEVC clips (.mov, .mp4, .m4v) so you can grade a frame and export the look as a LUT. HDR clips are not supported. See Grade a video clip.
Photos from other apps
You can open a photo from another app and return the edited result to it. See Edit a photo from another app.
How edits are stored
Your adjustments are saved separately from the original image. Editing does not move, rename, or overwrite the original file.
Reopen a photo to continue editing, change earlier adjustments, or reset the grade.
Export photos
Open Export (Ctrl+3), select the photos, and choose an output format.

Export uses the active Color or B&W mode. Check that the intended version is selected before exporting.
If the selection includes a video clip, the format changes to LUT (.cube). See Grade a video clip.
Choose a destination. Exported files are written to a name_export folder within it, leaving your originals unchanged.
Image size and finishing
Leave Resize on export off for full-resolution output. Enable it to limit the finished image to Max width and Max height.
Under Finishing, you can add a border, frame, or watermark. Resize limits include the border or frame. See Borders, frames, and watermarks.
After exporting
Format, size, and finishing settings are remembered for your next export.
Successfully exported photos are deselected. Photos that failed to export remain selected so you can retry them.
Export an animation
Select two or more photos and choose GIF or APNG to combine them into one animated file.
The photos become frames in the selected order. Set the Long edge, Frame rate, and whether the animation loops.
Export a LUT
To use your color grade in a compatible video editor or another app, export the look as a LUT.
Graded video clips appear in the Videos list, below Recently Edited, and export as LUTs.
