The Editor

Find your way around the tabs, toolbar, and adjustment panels.

The toolbar sits between the photo and the wheel. Hover over an icon to see its name.

The Editor shows your photo on the left and the editing controls on the right. The vertical toolbar between them opens panels for tone, color, and other adjustments.

Color and B&W tabs

The tabs at the top of the right column switch between Color and B&W. RAW files also have a RAW tab.

  • Color contains the color wheel and your pins. Press 2 to open it.
  • B&W contains the black-and-white EQ. Press 3 to open it.
  • Press M to switch between Color and B&W.

Each photo keeps both its color and black-and-white grades. Export uses the active grade. See Black and white.

Undo, Redo, and the ⋯ menu sit alongside the tabs. Use the menu to reset the current tab with Reset color, Reset B&W, or Reset RAW, or reset all edits with Reset all.

The toolbar

The toolbar contains four groups, arranged from top to bottom:

Tone tools work in both Color and B&W. The Color group is hidden in B&W.

A dot on an icon means that tool has an adjustment applied. Right-click the icon to reset that tool.

Hover labels show tool names and available shortcuts. Dots mark tools with adjustments applied.

Docked and floating panels

Click a toolbar icon to open its panel above the wheel. The wheel moves down and stays visible. Only one panel can be docked at a time; opening another replaces it.

To keep several panels open, use floating panels:

  • Float a panel. Drag its header out of the dock, or click the undock button in its header.
  • Dock a panel. Drag its header back to the top of the right column, or click the dock button.
  • Switch between docked and floating. Double-click the panel header.

Panel positions are remembered across photos and between sessions.

Preview or close a panel

Most panels have an eye icon in the header. Hold it to preview the photo without that tool's adjustment. Release it to restore the adjustment.

Close a panel with its ✕, its toolbar icon, or its keyboard shortcut, where available.

Film grain

Film grain replaces the wheel in the right column. Press Esc or click ✕ to return to the wheel.

Its eye icon works as a toggle: click to hide the grain, then click again to restore it. See Film grain.

Photo controls

The bar above the photo contains:

  • Recipes
  • Crop (C)
  • Before/after split (\)
  • A menu for rotating the photo

When a reference image is loaded, Compare appears at the right end of the bar.

Hold B to view the original photo. Release it to return to your edit.

Right-click the photo to access Copy look, Paste look, Save look as recipe…, Import LUT…, and Export LUT….
