Add folders to your library

Tone Caliper reads photos from their existing folders. Adding a folder doesn't copy or move your files.

Add a folder

1. Open the Library with Ctrl+1 and select Folders in the left sidebar.

2. Scroll to the bottom of the folder list and click Add folder.

3. Choose a folder in the system dialog. Tone Caliper scans it and adds its photos to your library.

You can't add a folder that's already included, sits inside an existing library folder, or contains one. Tone Caliper shows a message when folders overlap.

Scan for new photos

Folders are scanned when you open them. New files won't appear until a scan runs.

To scan every folder at once, click the scan icon beside Add folder.

Browse across folders

All added folders belong to the same library. Dates, Camera, Tags, and Edited organize photos across your collection, regardless of where the files are stored.

Browse by camera and settings

Select Camera in the sidebar to browse by Cameras, Lenses, Focal lengths, Apertures, ISO, or Locations.

One category opens at a time, and the photo grid is grouped by that category. Click a value in the sidebar to scroll to its section.

Focal lengths and ISO values are grouped into ranges. The other categories list individual values. Locations are matched to city names on your device, without uploading your photos.

Remove a folder

1. In Folders, right-click the top-level folder and choose Remove from library.

2. Confirm the removal.

The folder's photos leave the library, but the original files, edits, and tags are kept. Add the same folder again to restore its photos with their edits and tags.

Hide photos or exclude subfolders

To hide an individual photo, right-click it and choose Hide from library. The file stays on disk. You can restore hidden photos from Settings → Library → Hidden.

To exclude a subfolder from scanning, right-click it and choose Don't read this folder.

Once you've added your photos, cull the shoot or make your first color grade.
