Keyboard shortcuts and gestures
A grouped reference of every keyboard shortcut and mouse gesture in Tone Caliper — personas and tabs, comparing, color selection, crop, and the Library.
This page lists every keyboard shortcut and mouse gesture, grouped by task.
On a Mac, use ⌘ wherever the shortcuts below show Ctrl.
Personas and tabs
Hold Ctrl with a number to jump between personas; inside the Editor, the bare number keys switch tabs instead.
| Key | Action |
|---|---|
| Ctrl+1 | Go to the Library |
| Ctrl+2 | Go to the Editor |
| Ctrl+3 | Go to Export |
| 1 | Tone tab |
| 2 | Color tab |
| 3 | B&W tab |
| M | Toggle Color / B&W |
| F | Fit the wheel to your photo's colors |
| 0 | Show the full wheel |
Comparing and inspecting
Hold B to see the original, or hold H to highlight what the selected pin catches.
| Key | Action |
|---|---|
| Hold B | Show the ungraded original |
| Hold H | Highlight what the selected pin catches |
Selection and color
Scrolling zooms the view, but scrolling over a selected pin tunes that pin instead.
| Gesture / key | Action |
|---|---|
| Click a color | Drop a pin on it |
| Scroll over a pin | Grow or shrink its range |
| Shift+scroll over a pin | Soften the pin's edge |
| Alt+scroll over a pin | Spin the pin's hue |
| Double-click a pin | Delete it |
| Right-click a pin | Open its "Lightness range" menu |
| Ctrl+drag on the photo | Sample a region as your color |
| Delete / Backspace | Remove the selected pin |
| Esc | Step back, then deselect |
| Ctrl+Z | Undo |
| Ctrl+Shift+Z or Ctrl+Y | Redo |
The mouse wheel zooms toward the cursor, and middle-drag or Space+drag pans the wheel and the photo together.
Crop and rotate
Many controls reset on a double-click, including the straighten angle.
| Key | Action |
|---|---|
| C | Toggle crop |
| [ or ] | Rotate the frame |
Library and the loupe
Space pans in the Editor, but in the Library it opens a full-resolution loupe for culling.
| Key | Action |
|---|---|
| Space | Open or close the loupe |
| F | Favorite |
| I | Toggle info |
| Enter | Open in the Editor |
| ← / → | Move the selection |
| Ctrl+A | Select all visible |
| Esc | Close the menu |
Inside the loupe, \ toggles edited versus original, ← / → walk the set, and the Full res button renders the current view at native resolution.
